Inside Multi-level Marketing: MLM Compensation Plans

by Scott Fromherz

There are several terms involved with multi level marketing (MLM) that you will need to learn. You will have to know about downlines, uplines, overrides, spillovers, compensation plans, commissionable volume (CV), level bonuses, etc.

All multilevel marketing companies have a Compensation Plan. This plan defines all the different ways in which the company is going to pay someone who invests in it or sells its products and services. While every company is going to have its own customized plan, there are certain key concepts that these plans follow.

Matrices

One of these concepts involves Matrices (or multiple matrix). A matrix can be thought of a series of points with each point having one parent point and many children points. This is valid for every point in the matrix. Every point is going to be the parent point for some matrices and the same point is going to be the child of one parent matrix. In the multi level marketing way of thinking, the points are people. When you first join such a multilevel marketing plan, you will be at the child level with one member above you. That member can have several more members above and this chain going upwards is your Upline.

People who are recruited by you are placed below you in the matrix and are referred to as your downline. Each member in your downline can start a new line and this cycle can go on indefinitely. Every member in the downline of every member who is in your downline automatically becomes a part of your downline. So if you recruit 12 people and they recruit 100 people, your total downline is 112 members.

The more people there are in your downline, the better your chances are of building a decent residual income. The reason for this is that, just like you receive a cut from the earnings of all members in your downline, the people in your upline are receiving a similar cut from your earnings.

Sideline Compression

If you read this term in a multilevel marketing plan, then you might wish to avoid it altogether. Unlike other multilevel marketing concepts, people with good marketing and networking skills are the only ones who can successfully avoid the dangers of sideline compression.

What sideline compression does is take a structure like the Matrix discussed above and studies it to determine which members are not generating "enough" sales. The definition of "enough" is usually very fuzzy. These members in the matrix are simply pushed downline and other downline members who are generating better sales are pulled up to take their place.

Needless to say, you do not want this to happen to you. Most multilevel marketing companies will provide training to help you stay where you are in the matrix. It is best to pay close attention to early training if you are new to the MLM way of generating income.

Spill over

Theoretically, there is no limit to the number of members you can have one level below you (the downline you recruit personally). However, most multi level marketing companies have a cap as to how many members you can have per level and how many levels deep your downline can go.

When your downline gets full, new members will be placed into the next free slot available in the downline of any other member already in your downline. This has three benefits. First: you do not lose new members as they are still going into your downline. Second: it helps to fill up the downline of your downline members, thereby decreasing the number of people they must recruit while generating more commission for you. Third: true income from MLM does not come from your personally recruited downline, it comes from how fast you fill up the grid below you.

Cycles

Apart from all the upline and downline matrix filling, each level in the matrix is also assigned a quota that it must meet. Once that quota is filled, payment in the entire line is made as per the applicable rate of the top level in that upline. The cycle is then considered complete.

Expandable Depth Commission

As stated earlier, theoretically, there is no limit as to how deep a downline can go, but due to economic and management reasons, most MLMs will have some kind of predefined limit. This limit can sometimes be overcome if the MLM employs the Expandable Depth Commission model. Basically, this model allows a limited MLM to operate as an infinite-depth MLM.

Free Search Engine Optimization Tools

As I run across tools and websites that I find particularly useful for software and high tech companies, I like to pass them along. One set of tools that I use quite frequently are the free search engine marketing tools by market leap:

http://www.marketle ap.com/publinkpo p/default. htm

There are three great tools available on this site.

1) A link popularity check: Links to your site are one of the most important aspects on raising the profile of your website with the search engines, thus increasing your chance of appearing high in the search engine results. This is terribly important, and will have a big effect on the level of traffic to your site. Using this tool, you can check how many links to your site are out there--as well as your competitors. You can even look at the details, and see where your competitors are getting links--then go there to get a link for your own site!

2) Search Engine Saturation: Allows you to view which of your website's pages are being indexed by the search engines. For those pages not listed, you will know you need to submit them to each search engine where they aren't listed--increasing your site's overall visibility.

3) Keyword Verification: Using this tool, you can specify target keyword or phrases. The tool will return to you where your site places on 7 important search engines. It will tell you where you're ranked on the first 3 pages, or whether your site doesn't show up on the first three pages, for someone doing a search on that keyword/phrase in a specific search engine. It's a great way to figure out if you're achieving your objectives for organic search engines. If not, you then know where you have work to do.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a critical activity for any high tech company in today's marketplace. These tools, and similar ones on other sites, can really help you manage and enhance your website's position in your market, and pull relevant traffic to your site. There is an incredible amount of free tools if you will spend a bit of time looking around the Internet. Search Engine Optimization is a highly competitive business, and as a result, many SEO agencies have created free tools as "loss leaders" to attract you to their site, and show off their expertise.

I love to explore the online world of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and SEO. I intend to write many more articles on these topics in the coming months. If you have a topic you'd like to see discussed, or a specific comment or questions on these tools, please contact me using the information below.

A Home Based Affiliate Business Can Lead to Financial Independence

by Dennis Leem

How would you like to have a job that didn't require you to go into the office everyday? You could sit at home in your pajamas if you wished, get up when you want, go to bed when you want, and skip shaving altogether. That's what a home based affiliate business can do for you.

There are two ways to have an affiliate business. One is having a product or service business available online and recruiting people to be affiliates for you. The other is to be an affiliate for one or more internet businesses. Some people even combine the two and have both types of businesses going for them, increasing profits even further. These entrepreneurs are quite wise to the ways of making money in the Internet age.

What is a home based affiliate business? Simply explained, it revolves around an affiliate program, a way of paying commissions or percentages, or some other type of compensation to people who initiate the sale of a product through their website or some other method of linking to the primary business. For instance, a company that makes and sells custom yard signs may form an affiliate program. They promote them on their own web site and pay ten percent of the gross to anyone who drives business to their site resulting in a purchase.

With that in mind, a home based advertising consultant puts a link to the yard sign business on his web site and does mild promotion of it during the course of his business. Since some of his customers need yard signs as cheap advertising methods they click through his link, log on, and buy yard signs. At the end of the month the advertising consultant receives a check for ten percent of all of the business generated from his web site.

Many online bookstores are examples of successful affiliate business models. The same model can work well for work at home people, like work at home moms. One work at home mom I know makes about $500 a month from her online business linking to businesses that sell pet supplies. Her web site is devoted to cats, and the people coming to her site spend a lot of money taking care of their pets.

If you are selling a product or service on the Internet right now, then forming an affiliate network is natural. Figure out how much of your profit you can afford to pay affiliates and be generous. If you are making it worth their while, these people will bring you free business. No advertising or marketing costs involved at all.

And if you can find affiliate programs that will pay you a fair percentage for promoting them and they complement your business, then by all means become an affiliate. A home based affiliate business is a new, and very easy way to make money on the Internet.

Increase Your Profits With a Marketing Calendar

Copyright Marty Foley, http://ProfitInfo.com

Here's a tip for systemizing and increasing the profits
of virtually any business: Create and use a marketing
calendar.

As P.T. Barnum reportedly said, "Without promotion
something terrible happens: Nothing." Since marketing
is one of the most critical components of business
success, a marketing calendar helps ensure that time is
regularly set aside for it.

Just as with money, if time isn't budgeted properly
it's more likely to be wasted or spent on less
important things.

Without advance planning and preparation, marketing
opportunities are more likely overlooked, less time is
available to take advantage of them, and quality
decreases as mistakes increase, according to the adage,
Haste makes waste.

A marketing calendar helps systemize planning and
preparation, minimizing such problems.

How To Create Your Marketing Calendar

Some develop their annual marketing calendars near the
end of the year, in preparation for the next. Regardless
of the time of year, if you're not currently using one
now is a good time to start.

To create your marketing calendar you can use an Excel
sheet (my preference), a desk or wall calendar, a day
planner, or any other tool or system you're comfortable
with. How you set it up is less important than that you
set it up, and that you use it.

What you might record on your marketing calendar:

1) Specific day, week, or month assigned to each
marketing project.

2) Project description.

3) Project cost.

4) Project notes or comments.

5) A rating of the results of each project (A =
Excellent, B = Good, C = Fair, and D = Poor).

You don't have to list each task of multi-step projects
on your calendar. Instead, you can describe projects
briefly on the calendar and list the individual tasks
comprising each one on a To-Do list (which you probably
keep anyway if you're a productivity minded person).

Or you may assign different tasks of a project to
separate consecutive calendar dates.

Give priority to proven marketing avenues that pay off
best for you, allowing them ample time for completion.

Periodically add projects related to marketing avenues
you haven't tried before. You may discover some that
yield dramatically better results.

What's more, marketing diversification reduces risk.
Just ask those whose businesses have nosedived as a
result of adverse changes in an advertising medium
they've relied too heavily upon.

For best results, include projects related to testing
new approaches to marketing avenues you're now using,
or have used before. Small changes can yield
substantial response increases at little or no extra
cost, possibly turning C- and D-rated projects into A-
and B-rated ones.

Locate your marketing calendar for easy access. Consult
and update it regularly, as needed.

When creating next year's calendar, recycle winning
elements of your current one, especially A- and B-rated
projects. Expand on what works, and test and tweak, or
eliminate, what doesn't. As you develop, improve, and
use your calendar it will become an increasingly
valuable business asset.

Now that you understand the value of a marketing
calendar, create and implement one right away and start
enjoying better business results from it.

Don't Make These Affiliate Marketing Mistakes!

by
William Perkins

If you’re new to affiliate marketing, or if you’ve been doing
it awhile but you aren’t making any money, you might be making
one of these big mistakes in your business. What follows are
three of the biggest mistakes I see affiliates making as I
cruise the net, and some solutions for creating a better
website that converts more visitors into paying customers.

The first big mistake many affiliates make is building an
amateurish or downright ugly website. There are design
principles that you must follow when you build your website to
achieve success in affiliate marketing. There are also plenty
of tools to help you create a professional looking site.

When a visitor arrives at your site, you have only a few
seconds to create interest in your site and to build
credibility and rapport. First impressions are vitally
important! Your banner must be of professional quality and must
be simple and to the point. The name of your website and what
you say in your banner must tell the visitor exactly what your
website is about upon first glance.

Too many graphics is a bad thing. Your site should be simple
text for the most part. Keep your site simple, easy to read,
clean and uncluttered. That means having margins, easy to read
fonts, and easy on the eye colors. White backgrounds with black
type are best. Eliminate all the gaudy colors, wild graphics,
and blinking lights. Use only one or two colored fonts.

Your goal is create credibility, reliability, and
trustworthiness with your visitor. Think conservatively. Other
ways to create credibility and rapport is to put a photo of
yourself near the top of your page. Be sure to display your
email address and contact details prominently.

Just below your banner should be your headline in large type.
This headline is the most important part of your webpage. It
must be interesting and bold and draw the visitor into your
site. You must compel the reader to continue reading! Your
headline should address the needs of your visitor or provide a
solution to your visitor’s problem.

Finally, do not overwhelm your customer with choices. Design
your navigation so that the visitor has no more than five links
to choose from. You do not want to confuse your potential
customer. A confused mind simply won’t make a purchase. More
often than not, the confused visitor will exit your website in
search of an easier and clearer solution to their need or
problem.

Your navigation should be placed in the same place on every
webpage to make it easier for your visitor. Keep your visitor
happy! The happy mood is the buying mood. What’s more, a
customer that is happy to have found you and the products you
have provided will more likely return again to your website.

The next big mistake I see being made by so many affiliates is
their failure to capture their visitor’s name and email
address. This is vital to the success of your online business.
It’s amazing how many websites just try to sell products. I
guess a lot of people who are new to affiliate marketing have
not yet learned that most people have to see a product as many
as seven times before they actually buy it.

Getting visitors to your site takes time and money, and maybe
one in a hundred will buy your product. What about the other 99
visitors? Don’t let them get away from you! Get their name and
email address. Then continue to market to them. After they get
to know and trust you, they will buy from you again and again.

Your customer list is the most important asset in your
business. You will make more money on the back end than you
will on the front end of your affiliate marketing business. Be
sure to use an opt-in form and capture your visitor’s name and
email address! One good practice is to put an opt-in form on
every page of your website; another is to offer some kind of
freebie product that’s related to your offer to bribe the
visitor to opt-in.

The third big mistake I see affiliate marketers guilty of, not
just newbies, is selling to their customers. Your job as an
affiliate is not to sell, it’s to PRE-sell. It’s the merchant's
job to write killer copy to convert the visitors you send them
into paying customers.

I see lots of affiliates who swipe copy from merchant sales
pages with the result that their webpage resembles a sales
letter. This is the wrong approach to affiliate marketing
salesmanship. It turns people off. People don’t want to be sold
to, and people don’t like reading advertising.

Pre-selling is all about sharing your personal experience with
a product. This is why you had better actually buy the product
before you try to recommend it. You should relate your own
feelings about the product and what it has done for you.
Explain why you like it. Do not try to sell the product!

Instead of hyping a product the way sales letter pages do, you
should describe to your visitor the product’s benefits. Make a
bulleted and detailed list of how you have used the product
successfully. What it has actually done for you. Personalize
your recommendation. Then casually offer the link to the
product.

Choosing A Domain Name

by Charles Taylor

The domain name is like the road-front sign for a Web site. For
this reason care should be exercised when choosing a domain
name. A good domain name can attract traffic while an
irrelevant domain name may end up getting ignored by potential
customers.

The domain names that are most memorable are those that are
made of three to six characters. This makes them easy to
remember and easy to type. Long or complicated names run the
risk of being remember or spelled incorrectly. This can result
in the customer not finding the correct Web site or worse:
finding a competitor's Web site.

The domain name should relate to business the Web site
represents. The object is to irrevocably link the concept of
the business and the domain name in the customer's mind. If the
business sells light bulbs and domain name is "bulb", customers
are likely to remember that.

It is usually a good idea to use the company's name as the
domain name, provided it is well known and not challenging to
type accurately into a Web browser. This makes it easy for
customers to locate the Web site. If it is a new company the
domain name should be selected to describe company.

Avoid using hyphens in a domain name, as they are difficult to
remember. Also keep in mind that domain names without a hyphen
have a higher resale value than to those that have a hyphen.

Sometimes numbers are used in domain names. This can work well
if it makes a domain name easy to remember. However, it should
be avoided if the numbers are used phonetically. For using the
number four to replace the word "for" can serve to confuse
people.

Only the owner of a trademark should register a domain name
that includes that trademark. Registering a domain name that
infringes a trademark can lead to costly legal battles.

The owners should always register their own domain names. Don't
allow the domain name to be registered through a Web host, even
if they offer this as a free service. Too often this ends up in
the domain name being registered in the Web host's name, causing
countless potential problems. For example, should it become
desirable to change Web hosts at some future date the current
host may refuse to transfer the domain name, or may demand a
fee. While it's possible to report such action to the

Do Links Increase My Ranking On Search Engines?

by David Fishman

Increasing links as a method to get your serps increase is a
positive thing. You can ask youself the question, though, is
just but, links should you get so this can happen? Is it
possible to have to many links? Link marketing is the use of
links to boost traffic to your website as otherwise as to
develop it could be that your position on the se. You will need
to do both to accomplish success. If you want to increase it
could be that your search engine rank, accomplish on your
links.

Is there a set number I should shoot for?

There is no real set integer. It's not having ten or twenty or
getting a 100. It is definitely about having the right kind of
links coming to the webpage. As an instance, you need to
consider both reciprocal links as well as those that are the
best type of link is a one way link. One way links create
traffic to your site and not letting the customers get lured
away with additional links on the webpage. Link exchanging,
when placed correctly and applied in the correct way can help
as well.

Beyond this, you will want to achieve with having good
favorableness links. The links should be related in some way to
your internet site. You will need to search for webmasters that
offers similar, but should not have the same information as on
your site.

If you are thinking about how many links you should allow
pointing to your website, the correct denomination to go with
is as much as you possibly can do. When getting them make sure
they are of good quality, well researched links, not just a
link that is not in the same theme. Make sure they provide for
both reciprocal and links that are one way. Use them properly
and your business really can improve from them.

Web Hosting in Layman's Terms

by Ricardo d Argence

A web hosting company is like the gateway to having your website published on the Internet. Without a hosting company, it would be very costly and nearly impossible to have a website. There are many reasons people want to have a website of their own. Some of these reasons include wanting a business, showcasing and teaching hobbies or wanting to share information with those in the worldwide community.

More and more traditional businesses are realizing that it is important to have a website to complement their business. Many customers turn to the web for information before they will visit a traditional shop. Websites and traditional businesses are a lot alike in the way they are set up. Once you understand the basics of business, then you will understand how web-hosting works.

When you think of a web-hosting company, it is a lot like a real-estate agent. When you want to open a shop in the traditional sense, you see a real-estate agent, find a suitable shop, sign some forms that say you agree to the rental terms and conditions, then you are given the key to your shop. Once you have the key to your shop, you can begin setting up your business just the way you like it.

Web-hosting companies are a lot like that. They require you to sign up and agree to terms and conditions. Once you have signed up, you are provided with your "keys" or login information to access your own piece of cyber space. With the login information, you can then begin to upload or transfer the things you need to make your website viable, whether it is data or pictures.

Another thing that you will need from a web hosting company is an address. Just like a conventional business, you will need a way for your customers to find you. These addresses are known as domain names and always begin with www. The important thing to remember about a domain name is that, if you don't pay a yearly fee on it, it could get sold to someone else.

Web-hosting companies also provide their customers with email access from their website, a lot like having your own fax machine or message bank in a traditional business setting. Email servers will allow you to communicate and receive information or requests from customers or people interested in getting more information about your website.

For businesses, web-hosting companies can also provide Eftpos facilities or a place for your customers to order goods or services from your website. Customers can pay on the spot and the website owner can have the goods or service delivered to them.

If you were planning to rent a building for your business, you would want to shop around and not take the first place that you saw or go with the first real estate agent you spoke with. Web-hosting companies are the same. There are thousands of different companies out there and each one varies in price and in the services that they provide. The cheapest hosting company is not always best for your business.

Alojate.com is the premier web hosting company in Mexico, offering a range or services for all business needs.

Web Site Design Principles And Best Practices

by William Perkins

The key to designing an excellent website, and doing it in the
least amount of time, is planning. Internet web site design
follows a set of principles which you must incorporate into
your plan. Additionally, you’ll want to use a good web building
tool to expedite the process.

Planning your web site on paper first is vitally important. I
don’t mean planning every little detail, I just mean planning
the look and feel of your homepage, as well as the navigation
or flow chart of the various pages of your entire web site.

Think of your website as a pyramid with your homepage as the
pinnacle of the pyramid. Your visitors will navigate from your
homepage to your 2nd tier pages, and from there to the 3rd tier
pages. In the beginning, you will just want to build your home
page and the 2nd tier pages.

Here’s a Fast Track Technique to make your job of designing and
building a website a lot easier:

All you really have to do is plan one page, your homepage, and
then clone all your other 2nd and 3rd level pages. Your goal
should be to make one perfect webpage, and then you’ll simply
use this as your template and fill in the pages with different
content.

Let’s look at the requirements of a successful webpage. A good
webpage must fill the needs of the visitor to your site, as
well as the needs of the search engines, and must also entice
the visitor to click-thru to the merchant page where s/he can
make a purchase.

But that’s not all. A webpage should also capture the name and
email address of the visitor. There should be numerous places
and opportunities for the visitor to opt-in to your newsletter
or to get your freebie product. I recommend you put your opt-in
email capture form on every page of your website. Getting your
visitor’s name and email address is actually more important
than selling a product to your visitor.

Optimizing your webpages for the search engines is especially
important to get free, targeted traffic to your site. Using
articles that you write about your business, combined with SEO
webpage design principles practically guarantees an avalanche
of targeted traffic to your website.

In addition to convincing your visitors to give you their name
and email address, and optimizing for the search engines, a top
notch webpage should also be designed to nudge the visitor along
a pre-defined path to get the visitor to take a particular
action. The action you usually desire the visitor to take is to
click on the link that leads to your merchant page where a
purchase can be made.

Here is where website navigation becomes vitally important. The
amount of clicks from the time your visitor arrives at your
website to the merchant page where the visitor is confronted
with an offer should ideally be not more than three clicks.

The navigation must also be designed so that the visitor is not
overwhelmed with choices. I see too many websites that offer a
plethora of choices to the customer. This is a Big Mistake. A
confused mind hesitates to make a purchase, or takes no action
at all and exits the website in search of a simpler solution.

Design your navigation so that no more than five choices are
offered at any one time. So your homepage might offer five
category links at the top of your page, each of which might
lead to five more 2nd tier links. This already adds up to 25
pages plus the homepage.

The navigation should also be placed in the same place on every
webpage to make your visitor’s experience easy and pleasurable.
You do not want a frustrated customer. The happy mood is the
buying mood. What’s more, a good experience at your website
ensures that your customer will return again and again to your
website.

Offer excellent, easy to find content at your website. Design
your webpages with simplicity in mind. Nothing fancy or
complicated. Use a white background and easy to read fonts. Do
not overdo the colors! Choose black type and one or two colored
fonts and that’s it.

You need to convince your visitor that you are reliable,
trustworthy, honest, and credible. To do that your webpages
should be conservative, easy to navigate, and easy to read.
It's also important to include your email address prominently.

By following these webpage design guidelines, everybody wins.
The search engines do their job by delivering relevant content
to the visitor (because your webpage has been optimized for the
search engines). The visitor wins by effortlessly locating the
information and product that s/he was seeking. The merchant
wins by making a sale. And you win by collecting a commission
from the sale. You also acquire the customer’s trust, as well
as their name and email address, so that you can market to them
again in the future.

Integrating a Website With Your Business

by David Risley

It has been one of my continual themes when talking with
clients about their websites that their site needs to serve
their business. When I work with a client, I look at their
website as an extension of their business model. I take a look
at their overall business and evaluate:

* How do they make their money?
* Who is their public or target audience?
* How can their public be promoted to?
* How can the web be used to help automate their business?

I'll listen to what they want to achieve with their website and
then recommend options to help that website achieve the points
above: making money, automate and promote to their target
audience.

Anybody looking to put up a website for business purposes needs
to look at this. Too many business sites are very poorly thought
out and underutilized. A good website is a lot more than good
design. A good design and some content means only that a
website is acting as a glorified brochure. Its better than
nothing and any business today which does not at least have
that really needs to get on the ball. However, beyond design,
you can look at how the site will achieve the points above.

Now, a business which is all web-based is very straight-forward
in this department. A web-based business is going to want to
collect payments from customers via the web, so we're going to
want a secure payment system on that website. We also want that
website to be well-designed so that it does not confuse people
and attracts the customers' eyes to those things which make the
business money. We're also going to want to discuss how the web
can be used to promote. A business which is not web-based would
want to consider what they can provide on the web to extend
their business. Traditional brick-and-mortar businesses may
have a storefront or may need to deal with clients in person,
but what can they do on the web to extend their reach?

Promotion is paramount to success in business and on the web. A
website can perform any of many promotional tasks such as:

* Collecting sales leads by asking visitors to fill out a form.
Perhaps give them some free, valuable content in exchange for
their information.
* Collecting email addresses for use on a mailing list
* Auto-responders sending targeted emails automatically based
on customer's indicated interests on a form
* Providing metrics on customer interest using landing pages
and keyword advertising
* Running polls and surveys to find out what your potential
customers want
* Running free articles which educate your customers on the
subject matter of your business and get them interested.

A website is a footprint on the internet which is viewable
worldwide. Depending on the nature of your business, visitors
located well away from you may not be that useful in terms of
potential clientele. However, there is no reason why you cannot
still gather information from them to use with your local
clientele. After all, if they arrived to your website, they
were interested enough to come. They are a public for you
regardless of their location. Perhaps you can even find a way
to change your business model to include these people which are
not located locally to your business.

In terms of automation, keep something in mind. A web server is
simply a computer. Computers are great at doing repetitive tasks
that humans either hate or would find a huge waste of time. For
this reason, it is always a good idea to look over those
business functions which are repetitive and see if your website
can serve to make your life easier. For example:

* Sending your email newsletters could easily be done using
your web server. Click a button and email your entire mailing
list. Easy.
* Auto-responders can take care of automatically emailing your
customers relevant information at regular intervals.
* Automatically compile sales statistics and email them to you
each morning (if you do web sales)
* Export sales transactions directly into your accounting
software to avoid typing them all in manually.

There are a number of ways a web server can be used to serve a
very real business function and actually do some of the work
for you.

A lot of this comes under the heading of programming. Design is
design, however making the site actually DO something means it
has to be programmed. So, if you are skilled in this area, you
can do it yourself. Or perhaps you can hire it out to somebody.
Before any of that, though, look over your entire business and
the website you have and see how it can be utilized to make
your business easier to manage or actually drive in business.
Unless your website is personal in nature, then it is through
the lens of business that your site needs to be evaluated.

Start an Online Article Directory and Rake in the Cash

by Larry Bregman

If you are looking for a great online money making opportunity an article directory may be right for you. These directories can make you money in more ways than one which is why they can be so profitable. There are many details that go into starting such a site, but if you become comfortable with them you can start to make a profit in no time at all.

When starting an article directory you will need to have a quality website that people can visit. Your site needs to be well laid out and easy to navigate. If your visitors have to go through a lot of trouble to find what they are looking for they will simply go elsewhere. The easier you can make it on your visitors, the better chance you have of being very successful.

With an article directory you can make a lot of money with Google Adsense. If you opt for Adsense, Google will place ads on every page of your directory that you want. And anytime that a member clicks on one of these ads you will get paid; it is that simple. So the more pages of content that you have on your site, the better chance there is that you will make a lot of money with just Adsense.

In addition, you can place banner ads on your pages as well. These can be put anywhere there is some space. As you begin to get more and more traffic at your site, the price that you can sell ad space for will begin to increase. If you can move into the top sector of the article directory industry you can sell ad space for a high premium. After all, other sites are always looking for a way to get their name out. And what better way than to advertise on a high traffic site that brings in a lot of different types of people.

If you are going to start an article directory keep in mind that there is a lot of competition out there. Not only are there several established article directory sites, but there are many that are up and coming. This is not to say that you should stay away though. The fact of the matter is that you can make big money if you stick with your plan.

An article directory is a great online business venture. They can be easy to get started, and when it comes to marketing and promotion they are not that difficult either. Imagine starting your own and making big time cash each and every month. You can make this dream come true!

PIPS? Who Are They??? Back Up Singers for Gladys Knight???

by Jeremy Lytle

Not to disappoint, but the PIPS program has nothing whatsoever to do with Motown or wet nights in Georgia.

The Plug in Profit System (PIPS) is a four year old program that provides budding entrepreneurs with free web-sites, as part of an incentive to affiliate with the overall Plug in Profit strategy. This strategy embraces multiple streams of income. The PIPS program has provided a “leg-up” to many successful online marketers. And, many thousands of Plug in Profit affiliate business sites have launched and developed thanks to this uniquely designed program. The strength of the marketing efforts of founder Stone Evans has been a key factor in the Plug in Profit success story. Evans markets PIPS on the Web constantly, creatively and tirelessly. A quick check of search engine results for his name or the Plug in Profit System (PIPS) results in a total of nearly two million hits! (Even Gladys Knight and “the other PIPS” never had so many hits!)

Closer examination reveals that this spectacularly successful net-marketing venture is multi-faceted, rooted in four powerful cash-generating programs from the start. These are SFI, Host4 Profit, GetResponse and Internet Marketing Warriors. Other programs added more recently include Empowerism and Traffic Swarm—these have blended smoothly into the successful mix of solid affiliate programs. Start-up costs are minimal to enter into the PIPS world of multiple stream income. Once enrolled, each member will have their own website carefully set up for them in record time. Thereafter, PIPS newbies begin the process of bringing affiliates in their downlines.

Having joined any or all of the recommended programs, new PIPS entrepreneurs will likely start to see a profit right away. It generally takes only 24 hours (maximum) for the new “Pipster” to have their website built and visible to all on the World Wide Web. Each entrepreneur chooses their own domain name and is encouraged to develop their own unique blog, which is prominently linked to the top of the home page. There is a hosting fee, however the web hosting, too, is a profit center in PIPS. As with many affiliate programs, a few sales will erase out of pocket expenses. Affiliate marketing is a common concept, but unique in the web-hosting world. The PIPS program provides its enrollees with a rich training program developed for entrepreneurs of all skills and experience. There is even a unique (and active) members-only online forum which provides a supportive community. Here, one is free to ask questions, get answers, and exchange tips with fellow Pipsters, including successful veteran marketers.

The richly-detailed book by founder Stone Evens, “30 Days to Success” is included in the set up package. Even frustrated opportunity-seekers who have been burned by get-rich-quick schemes, have found that this day to day, no-nonsense guide will put them on the right track to finally succeed on the Web. There are opportunities for each PIPS member to win valuable bonuses right from the start of his or his Plug in Profit venture. Bonuses include software to help enrollees market their new company, advertising credits, pay per click discounts, proggies for effective ad tracking and other helpful marketing products.

Stone Evans’ book provides step-by-step lessons on how and where to advertise the Plug in Profit site and program on the Internet. He explains how to succeed in article-marketing and other free forms of advertising, how to advertise in e-zines, how to use free directories and classified advertising spaces effectively, how to grow sales through marketing in various home business forums and how to exchange links with thousands of other websites.

Pipsters receive a professionally written e-mail newsletter that automatically markets their company for them, for 400 days in a row! The newsletters are provided at no cost (that means FREE!), and are included for use in the GetResponse auto responder. (Of course, members are at liberty to choose their own autoresponder company if they wish, as PIPS is completely customizable every step of the way, once the basics are mastered.) GetResponse has a fine reputation in the autoresponder field, however, and a simple upgrade in Get Response removes all advertising boxes--which results in a more powerful and targeted advertising campaign.

PIPS web-sites and the newsletter marketing program are very customizable, allowing each entrepreneur to express their unique style and personality. Entrepreneurs may change the promotions and alter the look of the site and newsletter, if they wish.

Even Gladys Knight would be impressed indeed with all that this “PIPS” offers!

Make More Sales By Making Optimized Web Pages

by Fred Black

So you'd like to be an Internet Marketer, marketing products or
services on the Internet and live the good life that financial
success can bring you. But how do you get to that point? How do
you get a successful Internet business started?

Studies prove simple web sites can sale just as effectively as,
or even better than, elaborately designed, phenomenal looking
websites. Maybe you used your friend to make a web site for you
and now you're sitting back waiting on the dollars. Perhaps you
purchased FrontPage, Dreamweaver, GoLive, or another web site
software product and have been making your own sites. Most
people who try to make money on the Internet fail miserably,
have you?

Let me share a another secret with you. It's not hard to learn
HTML and CSS. It's not hard to make simple web page that can be
very effective at selling. One of the problems with full blown
software packages like FrontPage or Dreamweaver is that it
makes it very easy to keep adding to and tweaking your web site
until its way too busy to be an effective sales tool. I create
the majority of my web sites by directly editing the HTML, ASP,
or PHP code in a text editor. There are times that I will do an
initial layout in a package such as FrontPage and do the
remainder of the work using a text editor tool. This is
especially true for pages that are interactive, like a page
that contains a form to collect user data and populate a
database such as mySQL, or a page that pull data from a
database to create dynamic output.

Let me share one last secret with you. The pages you create to
sell something are probably not very effective at selling,
unless you're already successful, and experienced, at marketing
and copywriting. When I first saw a sales page that had been
optimized based on statistical analysis of successful and
unsuccessful sales pages I was dismayed. I just knew that it
was too simple and too plain to sell anything... I was not only
wrong, I was dead wrong. I base my sales pages on this same
statistically proven design, it's clean and simple and there's
nothing complex or hard to about creating it. The main things
are that you constrain the text in an area that's around 800
pixels wide and that you have a white background in this area.
You can have a boarder around this body area and the page
itself can be black or white. You can see an example at my web
site.

I've given you three secrets that can make your web site more
successful and more profitable. Don't just sit there, make it
happen.

Simple Seo Tactics To Drive Customers To Your Website Now!

by Ross M. Goldberg

Driving traffic to your website can be difficult. You know that
your products are the best available and your website is
gorgeous, but having your customers find it is very important.
The first thing to do is to think about where your potential
customers go online. That is the best place for you to
establish an internet presence. Let your potential customers
see that you know what your product is and how to help them
find it (your website!). Being resourceful is the heart of
internet marketing. You can't just sit and wait for the search
engines to figure out your website is there. Here are some
simple tactics that will gain you instant visibility:

Blogging: You absolutely must have a blog. Blogs are the heart
of driving free traffic to your website. On your blog, you
should be posting valuable information that your customers will
find valuable. This will lead to higher search engine rankings
and automatic traffic to your website. The best part about a
blog is that it always has an RSS feed. RSS feeds are quick
link generators for you. Make sure you submit your RSS feed to
as many directories as possible.

Forums: You need to find forums that cater to your niche and
join them. Provide valid information and help as many people as
you can. Include a simple link to your site in your signature
and watch as the traffic rolls in.

Myspace: You need to join myspace and find like minded people
in your industry. I recommend joining under your actual name.
Add some content to your page and find some friends! Post a
link to your website in your friend's comments and you'll gain
traffic to your website immediately.

Squidoo: Squidoo is a site that specializes in creating portals
of information for your buyers. Create the most valuable lens
possible and people will naturally end up at your website
looking for more of that great information!

Craigslist: Place a simple ad on your local craigslist website.
This will not only generate traffic, but it will be from local
customers. Wouldn't it be nice to save on shipping costs and
have customers come and hand you cash?

These methods are great for generating traffic for new sites,
but why sit back after the search engines find you? Market your
website in as many areas as possible and you will watch your
income soar. Be smart about internet marketing and use the
tools you have available. Your customers will thank you for it!

SEO And Meta Tags: No More Foolin’

by Scott Lindsay

When an online marketer is designing and setting up web pages
they may use a Meta information to allow search engines to gain
an understanding of what their website or web page is designed
to do for visitors.

Once upon a time in the land of Cyber it was believed that a
Meta Tag could be the silver bullet that allowed you to gain
high rankings in search engines. The fairy tale has gone away,
but the Meta Tag Fable remains.

What is a Meta Tag?

A Meta Tag is invisible to your visitors, but along with other
Meta information may be useful to search engines to derive a
brief description of your website. This information is what you
will find if you do a search of your own website through a
popular search engine. The Meta tag is added through the use of
html language.

In a time not so far removed a Meta Tag was often loaded with
keywords or phrases associated with your website. These
jam-packed Meta Tags would allow for a meteoric rise in the
search engines, however the mechanism for ranking search
engines began to alter when search engines discovered that the
Meta Tag didn’t provide the most pristine picture of the sites
they were ranking.

The companies operating search engines saw that the Meta Tag
was being abused so they began to develop sophisticated new
ways to rank websites that did not rely on Meta Tags.

It is possible that you could find marketing data that
indicates an approach that includes keyword stuffing on Meta
Tags, please understand this is either based on outdated
information or the person writing the article hasn’t really
researched their subject very well. The last search engine to
use Meta Tags was Alta Vista and they ceased using this ranking
method in 2002.

Search engines do use Meta Title information, but do not use
Meta Tags for search engine rankings. Goggle has never used
Meta Tags.

Meta information can still be useful for your website, but
using Meta Tags is now something that is ignored and vilified
in less than polite company.

The growth of Search Engine Optimized (SEO) articles is a
healthy direction because is helps provide legitimacy to your
website and it also provides a positive reputation online. This
reputation is now a part of many search engine rankings.

A reputable online marketing consultant can provide content
rich ideas that will enhance the long-term performance of your
website.

Do Free Classified Ad Sites Really Bring You Customers?

by Dale Calvert

The question is…DO FREE CLASSIFIED AD SITES REALLY WORK? The
answer is yes and no. I know that is not the answer you wanted
to hear, but it is the truth.

Let me try to explain further. All marketing is numbers! The
more advertising methods you are using in the market place,
ultimately the more website visitors you will have and the more
sales you will make.

With that said, a few years ago when we rolled out our web cash
leads program (http://www.WebCashLeads.com) we had associates
using every method possible to drive traffic to their affiliate
sites. There is no question that the best 2 ways to drive
traffic to any website is with Pay Per Click Search engines
such as Google and Overture along with solo ads in marketing
ezines.

However FREE classified ad sites will work, provided that you
are promoting a product or service that ADVERTISER can benefit
from. Please re-read that statement. You must promote a product
or services that A D V E R T I S E R S want!

What I am really saying is that not that many consumers
actually visit a lot of the FREE advertising sites on the web,
but a TON of Website owners see ads while searching to make
sure their personal ad appears on the site. Does that make
sense?

So if you can promote a product or service that website owners
can use your chances for clicks and sales increase
dramatically. I can tell you dozens of success stories from
marketers that have used FREE classified sites to market their
products and services. I can also share with you dozens of
horror stories from associates who have wasted hours posting to
FREE Classified Ad sites with little or no results.

So should you use FREE Advertising Sites are not? After all it
can be very time consuming to post to these sites? We
personally post to FREE advertising sites every week, and we
make sales weekly. However we have a secret to our success.

We use a completely automated Classified Ad Blaster that allows
us to submit unlimited free ads to over 50,000 classified ads
sites with just a couple of clicks of the mouse! That is right
we can submit our ad to over FIFTY THOUSAND free classified ad
sites in less than 5 minutes!

With those kinds of “numbers” no wonder we get a lot of website
traffic and sales weekly from FREE Classified Ad sites. You can
work hard, or you can work smart. In all businesses time is
money and marketing comes down to numbers.

Our submitter allow us to go post on huge numbers of boards in
less than 5 minutes, we think it makes much more sense to
approach marketing with FREE classified ad sites this way, than
trying to submit our ads 1 by 1, what about you?

You can get all the details about the classified ad submitter
we use, along with several other great promotional products at
www.Tunza.TipForSuccess.com

We wish you much success in your Free Classified Ad,
advertising promotions.

Paypal: A Friendly Way To Pay

by Top Wahm

PayPal is becoming more and more prevalent as a means of doing
business on the internet. Those who spend a lot of time on eBay
are well aware of how PayPal works. Now that more and more
websites are asking for PayPal payments, many consumers are
left scratching their heads and wondering, “What is PayPal? Is
it safe? Is it easy?”

PayPal is a means of making or receiving secure payments over
the internet in the place of a credit card. Consumers must sign
up for a PayPal account and link it to either a bank account or
a credit card. When the time comes to pay for a purchase over
the internet, the customer provides the merchant with their
PayPal account information, the money is paid to the merchant
(less a small transaction fee) and the linked bank account or
credit card is charged appropriately.

Common uses for PayPal include sending and receiving money to
or from friends and family online, requesting money for a
charity drive and making online purchases. In addition, when
requesting money, an invoice and detailed payment instructions
can be generated.

Money can be sent to over fifty five countries in the following
currencies: U.S. dollar, Canadian Dollar, Euro, Pound Sterling,
Australian Dollar, and Yen.

Using PayPal is easy to use, safe and free for the purchaser.
PayPal doesn’t share financial information so the seller never
sees bank account or credit account numbers. They have strict
anti-fraud measures in place and protect buyers from
unauthorized purchases.

In addition, for those who accept payments into their PayPal
account, an ATM/debit card is available for easy access to
funds. Otherwise, simply log into PayPal and request a transfer
of funds back into the previously linked bank account.

With over 96 million PayPal accounts already set up worldwide,
PayPal is clearly making friends.

Lucrative Home Business

by Top Wahm

Looking for a fun and profitable home based Internet business
to make money online? Consider selling used, collectible, and
vintage needlework books and patterns over the Internet. I have
been an online bookseller for a number of years, specializing in
these types of publications. The field is wide open for anyone
wanting to earn extra money or start a profitable small
business.

Online book selling is a huge business. Many successful
Internet booksellers specialize in particular book topics to
increase profits and repeat sales. How to books and pattern
leaflets are in steady demand by needleworkers. Used and older
publications are readily available and inexpensive for dealers
to buy. Often there are no just a few similar titles for sale
by competing dealers.

This article will teach you how to recognize vintage needlework
books and patterns and where to buy them. How to price your
publications, where to sell used and old books for maximum
profits.

What to Buy
Buying the correct books and patterns to offer for sale will
insure your success. Buyers are looking for publications
focused on particular needlework techniques or craft items,
instead of general instructions.

For instance, a book on making beaded flowers is likely to be
in demand. A general how-to bead book is not. Likewise, a
pattern booklet on tatting Christmas decorations will probably
sell better than a general guide to tatting stitches.

Profitable Topics
Used and antique books on particular subjects are in high
demand:

Knitting & Crochet - books and patterns on shawls, stoles,
hats, dolls, toys, beaded, embellished, loom knitting

Tatting - most anything related

Quilting – Books and patterns on special or unusual techniques
of all kinds or unusual quilted items

Beading – Books and patterns on beaded flowers, trees,
Christmas ornaments, rings, bracelets

Sewing – Books and patterns on 1950s, retro (1960s – 70s)
fashions and accessories of all kinds, costumes, soft toys and
dolls

This is just a small sampling of what’s available to the
seller. There are hundreds of focused topics that have been
published in vintage needlework books and patterns.

How to Recognize Collectible Books & Patterns

Publications that are 30 years old or more are usually
considered to be “vintage”. These often include techniques and
projects not available in modern books. How to books can be
soft cover or hardback. Often small older soft covers offer the
most focused (and profitable!) subject matter.

Pattern leaflets are soft covers usually under 30 pages. These
older pattern booklets are popular with needle workers as they
usually are packed with vintage pattern designs and ideas.

Where to Buy Used and Antique Needlework Books & Patterns
There are numerous places to buy these publications for resale:

Garage Sales:
A great source. Both books and pattern leaflets are usually
priced inexpensively.

Rummage Sales:
Another good source for low priced publications.

Estate Sales:
Fine source for old and vintage books and patterns, though
prices are higher.

Second Hand & Thrift Stores:
Local independent stores usually offer the lowest prices.
Pattern books and leaflets usually are priced cheaply.

Used Bookstores:
Prices are often too high on hardbacks, but small softcovers
and pattern leaflets often are priced inexpensively.

There are other sources where you can find books – auctions,
other online dealers etc. You should be able to find as ready
supply of publications priced for now more than a dollar or
two.

Where to Sell Your Used Books & Patterns:
There are two main places to sell your old books and vintage
patterns online:

Internet Book Stores:
Online sites such as Advanced Book Exchange, Alibris, and
Amazon offer booksellers a place to have their own store like
set-up without many of the responsibilities of small business
ownership. Each site gives dealers a place to list and describe
and sell each of their publications. Check out these sites to
learn about their individual advantages and differences.

Internet Auctions:
Online auctions are plentiful and provide book dealers another
place to sell their books and patterns. My favorite is eBay,
which offers a continual built-in market for your publications.

Wherever you prefer to buy or sell, old, used, and collectible
needlework books and vintage patterns offer a fun niche for a
lucrative home Internet business.

Pay Per Click Affiliates

by Daniel Davis

You've heard of pay-per-view, pay-per-person and pay-per-hour.
But what on earth is pay per click?

Modern marketing is all about the Internet--and pay per click
affiliate programs make let marketers use the Internet to its
full potential. "Pay per click" simply means that an affiliate
is paid for an Internet hit, or "click", that he or she is
responsible for.

Let's assume that, as an Internet affiliate, you own a website
with key words to attract search hits. When a person visit the
your website, then "clicks" onto the link of another business,
you receive a small fee. The average payment per click is
around two cents. If the click leads to a purchase, you'll earn
more. Pay per click affiliates benefit from efficient and
effective marketing that's much cheaper than traditional
advertising methods.

Pay per click affiliate programs pay a small fee for every
visitor sent to a designated website. There is an adjacent pay
per click affiliate program, called "second page click",
wherein you would be paid if your visitor clicks on a link on
the affiliate page. This may all sound quite confusing, but pay
per click affiliates find it an easy way to promote their
products and websites, and make a little extra cash.

If you are considering joining a pay per click affiliates
program, be sure to read all of the details. You need to have a
solid understanding of what's expected of you, and what you can
expect to get in return. This is especially important if you
will be taking part in a second page click program, which can
decrease your revenues by as much as eighty percent.

One of the best and most popular pay per click affiliate
programs is found at http://overture. com. When you sign on at
Overture, you'll find features to help you get started in the
pay per click affiliates program. Overture offers several demos
to get your website started with the program, as well as samples
of affiliate websites. You can visit these affiliate pages, read
a general description, and view their income history.

As a member of a pay per click affiliates program, you'll learn
which keywords are getting hits on your website, and which are
not. Having this information will help you adjust your website
content to feature more popular keywords and get more hits.
Naturally, more search hits for your website will lead to more
income from your pay per click affiliate program. Programs like
Overture offer a great keyword search service. Just type in the
words you've chosen, and Overture will suggest optional
keywords to boost your website content and increase the number
of hits it receives.

There's more to becoming a successful pay per click affiliate
than just creating a button and leaving it alone. To earn a
substantial income, take the time to do the research, create a
great site, and keep on top of it to generate more hits. The
work you do today will pay off in profits for you and your
affiliates.

The Benefits Of Being An eBay PowerSeller

by Chris Vendilli

There are a few little known benefits of becoming a PowerSeller that only those who have experienced them can tell you about. One of these benefits, for example, is that you can become qualified for discounted healthcare coverage through the programs that eBay is involved in. Another little known benefit is getting preferred customer service and email support from eBay's staff. If you reach a Platinum level of PowerSeller status you will even receive your own eBay account representative whose job will be to get familiarized with your account, help you troubleshoot problems, and help you tweak your selling strategies for optimal sales.

In order to become a Bronze PowerSeller (which is the lowest level of PowerSeller and a great goal to shoot for!) you must average over $1,000 per month in sales over the course of a 90 day period. This may sound like a lot, but once you realize that you only need to do $1,000 in gross sales it becomes very realistic. Just think, if you sell $1,000 worth of goods per month and only make $100 profit you'll still be hitting the mark! The monthly goal has nothing to do with your bottomline profits, only your gross sales - making it much easier to acheive PowerSeller status than you might think! Other requirements include at least a 98% overrall customer feedback satisfaction rating, and no violations of eBay policies or guidelines. You must also have your seller account fees paid up to date and average at least four transactions per month.

A few more benefits include the appearance of an eBay PowerSeller icon next to your username and in the "Meet The Seller" section of all of your auction listings. (This icon's appearance can be turned off if you wish). The appearance of this simple icon can actually boost your sales when other eBay members see that you're a reputable and well respected PowerSeller who abides by eBay rules and regulations. So what are you waiting for? I suggest taping a note to your monitor that says "I will be a PowerSeller in 90 days!" You'll be surprised how easy it is to reach your goals once you have set them.

Aside from the few few benefits mentioned here, take a few minutes to check out the more information on the eBay auction site itself. Here are some very useful links containing more free information in regards to not only benefits of the PowerSeller program, but also detailing the same requirements that I mentioned in this article.

If you take the time to familiarize yourself with the benefits and criteria of PowerSeller status you will be taking a huge step in the right direction. By seriously examining this information you're setting yourself up for success not only in the PowerSeller program, but also as an eBay seller in general.
