SEO - Don't Let Your Website Get Banned
by Chris Angus

Although Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) does fall into two
distinct categories there is no ethical stance on SEO.
Don’t let a search Engine Optimiser sell you that they have
ethical ways of working when optimising your site. Either a
technique works or is doesn’t. Period.
As long as you know the risks, there is nothing wrong with
“Black Hat” SEO. It is not illegal or immoral. The only
downfall is that your site MAY get black listed.

People attempting to do SEO will invariably push the boundaries
in trying to get their website to the top of the search engines.
This article will briefly explain what to do and what not to do.

Search Engine Optimisation has two areas of functionality.
White Hat SEO and Black Hat SEO.

White Hat SEO - is typically working within the search engines
guidelines, by working within the Search Engines guidelines
your site should be safe and won’t face the chance of being
banned or de-indexed by the search Engines.
This involves on-page optimisation and link building. There are
many, many different types of on-page optimisation and link
building that are deemed acceptable and there are many that are
seem as unacceptable. The easiest way to explain what you can
and can’t do is by starting with what you can’t do. That falls
under the “Black-Hat” banner.

Black Hat SEO – is working outside the Search Engines
guidelines, while there are many a grey area, I will list the
definitive actions you should avoid if you don’t want to put
your website at risk.

Hidden or Partially hidden text – This is making your copy the
same colour as your back round.

Cloaking – This is showing search engines on page in visitors
another. This is a risk but effective way of boosting your
ranking.

Keyword Stuffing - This involves stuffing keywords into the
picture descriptions or Meta Tags.

Participating in Link Farms – This is where thousands of
unrelated sites link to one another.

Internet Business Opportunities

How To Spot New Internet Business Opportunities Without Losing Your Focus
by Tamara Esgoode

Anyone who has done business online will tell you, it can be
overwhelming! The rapid pace of change and the constant inflow
of new information and new business opportunities are both
exciting, AND can also be very distracting! If you have too
many "irons in the fire" then you dilute the effectiveness of
your time and your marketing.

Many internet business beginners make this mistake and then
wonder why they are not making money. How do you keep up with
what you're already doing AND keep up with new trends without
spending your entire life on the computer??!! :-)

Another dilemma faced by internet business owners is how do you
make use of beneficial timing of new opportunities?

Have you ever seen the movie "Defending Your Life?" In his
youth the hapless hero, played by Albert Brooks, is introduced
to an unexpected investment opportunity with a new company. The
young man is afraid and skeptical, and he passes up this
investment which turns out to be with Casio, which later
becomes a multi-million dollar company.

OUCH!!! None of us wants to be in that Unenviable position. Is
it really possible to catch the wave of new business ideas
while you are building your existing business? How do you
choose where to focus your precious time and attention? Here
are three tips to help you

1. Choose Great Mentors

One of the most important things you can do early on in your
online business is to find and work with good mentors, people
who can show you step by step how to build an online business,
how to spot new business opportunities, and how to keep your
expenses low and your profit margin, and your integrity high.
Integrity is key here, because businesses that lack integrity
eventually go out of business. Businesses of integrity contain
the basic ingredients that create a long-term income.

Finding good mentors will help shorten your learning curve so
you don't need to "re-invent the wheel". Find mentors that you
can trust, that share your values, and that can help you to
spot new business ideas and opportunities. A good mentor can
even help you to spot some of the emerging business trends on
the net!

This being said, remember that no matter how great your mentors
are. no one mentor can take the place of your own God given
intuition, also known as your inspiration and your "gut
feeling" or instincts. That's why our #2 recommendation is:

2. Listen Within

No matter how awesome your mentors are, it is crucial that you
always listen to your intuition about whatever new business
opportunity you are looking at. Some folks call this "gut
instincts" or "inner wisdom”... whatever you call it, we all
have it. I encourage you to listen to your instincts when
looking into any new business idea. Instinct and intuition are
VERY smart business partners.

- Does it excite you?
- Do I feel good about it?
- Do you feel good about the people involved?

I have found that my intuition has so far ALWAYS been
beneficial to me and to my business ... WHEN I listen to it!!
:-)

By the way, have you noticed that these first two tips that I
just shared are NOT fancy technologies? They both fall into the
category of the tried and the true:

Relationships!

A good relationship with yourself, relationships with mentors,
relationships with your colleagues, customers and business
partners form the very core foundation of your business!

3. Complimentary, Not Competing

On the internet opportunity abounds, in endlessly complex
niches, all combining with the emerging new technologies of
social bookmarking and Web 2.0. It's exciting, and can also be
overwhelming. You need a business that will work, and that will
provide you a solid long-term income, even in the shifting sands
of rapid change that constantly open up new business ideas.

How do you keep it all in perspective? The key is to choose a
niche, focus your content and information on that niche, and
then add multiple income streams gradually, always keeping the
focus on your niche. Choose well researched, complimentary
ventures that enhance your main business niche. Sometimes you
can plug into opportunities with little or no extra work,
simply by adding a new affiliate program or service to your
site.

Do not promote two competing products or companies that offer
basically the same service, and do not try to be all things to
all people. Multiple income streams can be smart business if
done sanely, with discernment and with your primary business
niche as the focus!

The other way to keep your focus is to budget your time,
spending 80% of your business time focusing on income producing
activities that bring new cash flow into your business. Do your
income producing activities early in the day when you have the
most energy. Leave the administrative tasks to later in the
day, after you've accomplished your daily goals.

By choosing great mentors, listening to your intuition, and
focusing your business tightly around a niche, even an
inexperienced internet business beginner can stay in touch with
new business opportunities, and grow a successful business that
will grow and expand with the times!

Website Development

Website Development - Know What You Want, First!
by Gerald Chait

Want to waste thousands of dollars on your website development?
No?! Then make sure you figure out exactly what you want BEFORE
you approach a website development company.

It may seem like obvious advice, but in reality, many people
approach website development companies without first
formulating a clear web strategy, clarifying objectives and
expectations. This hasty sort of approach to website
development invariably costs the customer a lot of money – and
they end up with a website that doesn't meet their needs.

So how do you get the website that meets your requirements
within the budget you have? Plan, plan, PLAN!

Some of the questions you need to answer before embarking on
your website development:

1) Why do you need a website?
2) What kind of website do you need?
3) Who is your target audience?
4) How do you plan to attract visitors to the site?
5) What are some of the graphical design considerations?
6) Will the site target both domestic and international
visitors?
7) What is the visitor trying to achieve?
8) How will your website support or integrate with the rest of
your business?
9) What structural implications should you consider?
10) How will you update the content?
11) Who should you talk to about website development?
12) Who do you talk to about hosting your website?
13) What is your website development budget?

1) WHY DO YOU NEED A WEBSITE?
Websites are generally designed to support one or more of the
following objectives:

• provide information
• facilitate online transactions
• drive visitors to a physical location
• facilitate communication

Websites also support brand image and awareness. In today’s
information- rich environment, customers are becoming far more
savvy and conduct thorough research prior to making decisions.
Having a good, informative and accurate website could mean the
difference between winning the client and not.

Websites are also extremely important for contact details as a
lot of readers refer to website as a quick reference.

What's more, a website provides 24x7 access, so your customers
and potential customers have access to the site outside of
normal business hours (ideal for supporting promotions, general
e-commerce and improving customer service).

2) WHAT KIND OF WEBSITE DO YOU NEED
Websites may be simply informational in nature or more complex
with transactional e-commerce shopping functionality. They may
even be designed to support Web 2.0 functionality such as BLOGs
and message boards, which can develop a community environment.

But always remember, your website needs to serve the needs of
the customers you're trying to attract and retain. Before
committing to the feature set of your website development, make
sure you can link every feature back to a customer need.

3) WHO IS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE
Who is your typical reader? Think about your readers; are they
young or old, wealthy or poor, male or female, computer techies
or novices? Are your readers just researching or are they in
buy-online mode? Are they local or international, or both? Will
language be a barrier? Will font size be a consideration for
those with poorer eyesight?

Once you have ascertained who your audience is, you need to
design the website to suit that audience.

4) HOW DO YOU PLAN TO ATTRACT VISITORS TO YOUR WEBSITE?
Marketing your site is critical. It can be marketed
electronically using search engines such as Google, Yahoo and
MSN and/or offline using traditional advertising and promotions
strategies. It's important that you think about the marketing
strategy BEFORE website development, as it will impact the
website development process and the technology of the final
product. For example, do you plan to run Google AdWords or
banner ads? If so, will those ads need to relate to specific
landing pages containing enquiry forms, or would a single
landing page suffice? Will search engine-driven traffic be
important to you? If so, you'll need to ensure that your
website is designed and developed in search engine-friendly
way, and that your web copy is optimised for search engines.

5) WHAT ARE SOME OF THE GRAPHICAL DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS?
Many sites feature a large number of animations and GIF images,
which are distracting and poorly designed (in terms of colour
and fonts), and which add an unnecessary overhead to the page
(in terms of file size and speed of loading). A good website
has a balance of imagery and text. Try to be aware of things
like font size and how it might impact your readers. Colours,
fonts and alignments should be consistent from one page to the
next. The look and feel of a site needs to be simple and
consistent.

Similarly, background music, popups and Flash can be gimmicky
and annoying to visitors. Only include them if they are
appropriate to the needs of your audience.

As previously mentioned, your website needs to be more than
just a promotional tool; it should form part of your overall
marketing strategy. What looks great in print may not look good
online. Perhaps more importantly, it may not be user-friendly
(functional) . So make sure you have a web designer involved in
the development.

6) WILL THE SITE TARGET BOTH DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL
VISITORS?
Consider whether you have the infrastructure to support
international readers and clients. For example, if the site is
transactional and you are selling a product, do you have
international banking or credit card facilities and the ability
to deliver overseas?

If you're going to target international readers, it's important
that you make your website global. Consider the format of the
information you display and request (e.g. zip code versus
postcode, address formats and even phone number formats) and
the style, tone, word-choice and spelling of your copy. (See
www.divinewrite. com for more information on website
copywriting. )

Another important consideration which is often overlooked in
website development is scheduled maintenance. Scheduling
maintenance for midnight in your home country may cripple your
website during peak business hours in another.

Make sure you investigate the needs of your international
market(s) and adapt your website to suit those specific needs.

7) WHAT IS THE VISITOR TRYING TO ACHIEVE?
All website visitors want or need something. They may be
researching prior to purchasing a product, looking up company
details, or trying to pay an invoice. If you want to make your
site easy for visitors to use and if you want those visitors to
keep coming back, your website development MUST accommodate the
tasks that those visitors are attempting to perform.

8) HOW WILL YOUR WEBSITE SUPPORT OR INTEGRATE WITH THE REST OF
YOUR BUSINESS?
Websites can often offer services to support and integrate with
your business. For example, you might offer online shopping to
streamline the purchase, dispatch and accounts process
(including payment gateways, stock/inventory detailing, member
or client information, etc.). Alternatively your website can
increase the effectiveness of your marketing and product
support, by spotlighting your products with extensive
information and product catalogues, emailing product
information to opt-in recipients, allowing links back to the
manufactures (if applicable), etc. You might also set up an FAQ
section on your website and encourage your visitors to read this
area before contacting your office. A feedback form might also
reduce administration overhead by allowing your readers to
contact you and request more information, etc.

9) WHAT STRUCTURAL IMPLICATIONS SHOULD YOU CONSIDER?
With websites, less is more. The simpler the structure is, the
more user-friendly it is. It all comes down to navigation;
navigation is a website’s lifeblood. A poor navigation
structure can destroy a user’s experience, and damage your
online image.

Sections should be obviously grouped, both logically and
visually. This makes navigation intuitive. Create a draft site
plan before website development is commenced. Discuss it with
your designers and developers, work with them to evolve it,
then leave it with them to guide them through the website
development process. This will ensure that the visual and
functional elements of your website flow and make sense.

Structure and navigation are particularly important for larger
sites and e-commerce sites. With so much competition around,
your visitors will not be prepared to expend a great deal of
energy to unravel the mysteries of a poorly planned site.
Similarly, visitors are unlikely to become buyers if the
purchase process is confusing.

10) HOW WILL YOU UPDATE THE CONTENT?
It is imperative that you update the content on your site on a
regular basis. Outdated information is useless and impacts on
your credibility and professionalism. Conversely, regularly
updated content tells your readers that you're a proactive
organisation (and it also contributes to your ranking in the
search engines).

To reduce ongoing costs and retain control of your website,
consider the benefits of building it using a Content Management
System (CMS). A good CMS lets you easily manage all content
yourself, instead of paying your web developers to do it. (This
includes adding and editing copy and images, adding and deleting
pages, and adding and deleting functionality. )

11) WHO SHOULD YOU TALK TO ABOUT WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT?
This depends what you want from your website development and
how far your budget can stretch. Is the site intended for the
short or long term? Will content need to be updated? Do you
need e-commerce, email management / e-newsletters, etc.? There
are many people who build websites and numerous approaches to
take.

Important considerations when selecting a website development
company include:

• Do they have proven website development experience?
• Are they familiar with the latest developments?
• Do they have support networks or personnel should they run
into problems?
• Are they qualified?
• Can they provide ongoing website development support?
• Do they have access to graphic designers?

It's best to find an established website development company
with a solid infrastructure and qualified staff, who can speak
with you plain English, listen to all your requirements and
develop a plan that suits your needs. Also remember to select a
website development company that you feel comfortable dealing
with.

12) WHO DO YOU TALK TO ABOUT HOSTING YOUR WEBSITE?
Your website development company should be able to suggest a
hosting company, but if not, there are a multitude of companies
listed on the Internet and in the Yellow Pages.

When considering website hosting companies, obviously you need
to ensure that they are appropriate for your budget. You need
to know that they have adequate security both via the web
(antispam, antivirus, etc.) and in their actual physical
environment (locks, alarms, etc.). You need to know that they
use hardware and software that is modern and appropriate for
the job.

Do they have a proactive backup / business continuity /
disaster recovery strategy, and the necessary software and
hardware to support it? And do they engage in scheduled
maintenance? You need to know that they are operating an
environment that is designed to minimise the likelihood of
fire, flood, theft, hardware failure, overheating, etc. But, if
the server hosting your site does, in fact fail (or is stolen or
destroyed), will your website be unavailable? Some hosting
providers offer uptime guarantees, which is great, but don't
assume this means that nothing will ever go wrong and your
website will never go down.

Also, consider bandwidth (how fast can they display your
website files). Few things are more frustrating to visitors
than slow-to-load pages, and your host can play a big part in
this.

13) WHAT IS YOUR WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT BUDGET?
Many businesses try to cut costs by engaging a student,
unqualified staff employee or friend to build their website.
Think carefully before pursuing this option, because you get
what you pay for. You'd most likely be trading-off visual
aesthetics, reliability, stability, speed, ease of use, search
engine-friendliness , and ongoing technical support. When it
comes to website development, short-term cost-cutting does not
always equate to long-term savings or return on investment.

Having said that, you should always be realistic. Consider what
sort of return on investment you require (and how quickly), and
set your budget accordingly. Then stick to your budget. If you
need to cut costs, start with the 'bells and whistles' that may
not be necessary. Flash, for instance, adds significant cost to
your website development, yet is considered annoying by many
visitors and may reduce your search engine-friendliness .

Affiliate Marketing: Boost Sales

Affiliate Marketing: A Guaranteed Way To Boost Sales

by Ryan Cole

Anyone serious about affiliate marketing has most likely
considered using Google AdWords. It's a great way to get
instant traffic to your site, and if you know what you're doing
you can get that traffic for much less than it's worth. But most
beginners do it all wrong, lose a bunch of money, and then pause
their AdWords accounts without having seen a single sale. There
is a way to avoid this.

Let's say you've got a site that sells iPod accessories. (It
doesn't matter what the product is, really, or if you're an
affiliate or a vendor.) Your site has a separate page for
dozens of different iPod accessories, from carrying cases to
battery packs to stereo docks, each with a picture, a little
blurb (preferably a review), and a purchase link. So how do you
set up an AdWords account to sell this stuff? Most people fill
up a single ad group with keywords like "ipods," "ipod
accessories, " "ipod headphones," etc., write an all-purpose ad
that sends visitors to their home page, and then watch as click
after click -- all of which cost anywhere from $0.10 to a couple
of bucks -- fails to result in a sale. A few hundred clicks and
you're deep in the hole with nothing to show for it.

Where did you go wrong? First (and most important), you should
have different ad groups for different sets of keywords. For
example, an ad group for headphones, an ad group for cases, an
ad group for stereo units, etc. This makes it easier to write
targeted ads for specific products. Someone looking to buy a
pair of headphones is much more likely to click on an ad for
"iPod headphones" than one for a general term like "iPod
accessories. "

Second, your keywords are all wrong. They're too general. The
people who click on ads for general terms are usually in an
early stage of the buying cycle -- they're just looking around,
not really sure what they want to buy or if they want to buy
anything at all. You want to catch people after they've looked
around and decided what they want to buy. To do this, you've
got to focus in on super-specific keywords. Don't just bid on
"ipod headphones"; this term will be far too competitive and
the clicks will be too expensive. Bid on "Etymotic Research
ER-6i earphones" or "Shure E4c earphones." Use the exact name
of each product on your site, stick it in its own ad group with
its own highly targeted ad, and send users to the purchase page
for that specific product. The clicks you'll get for these ads
will be ready to buy and may convert hundreds of times better
than clicks for more general terms. Of course, setting up all
those different ad groups can take a lot of time, especially if
you're selling hundreds or thousands of different products.
(Check out my article on dynamic keyword insertion for some
tips on how to automate a big chunk of this task. You'll find
the link at the end of this article.)

Last but not least, you need a good landing page. This is the
page a user will see after he clicks your ad. This should never
be your home page. Someone searching for a specific product
doesn't want to find a link for it only to be taken to a
catalog where he'll have to find it all over again. He'll click
the back button before your page finishes loading. If the ad is
for "Shure E4c earphones," for example, the landing page should
be your Shure E4c earphones page. This should contain a headline
-- "Shure E4c Earphones" -- a picture, maybe a star rating, and
a blurb or review, followed by your purchase link. That's it.
No AdSense ads, no banners -- no "traffic leaks," in other
words. It should be very clear what you want the user to do:
you want him to see that he's on the right page (by reading the
headline and looking at the picture), read about the product
(thus confirming that, yes, he wants it), and then follow your
link to buy it. Don't give him any other options.

Set up your AdWords accounts following this blueprint, and you
can't lose. With paid clicks, it's all about quality over
quantity. (Would you rather get 300 clicks and no sales, or 60
clicks and 10 sales?) You won't get as much traffic this way,
but the clicks will be cheaper and more targeted, and your
conversion rates will go from abysmal to awe-inspiring, just
like that.

Online Business Success

Following The Path To Online Business Success
by Jonathan Beebe

You may be asking yourself, "Why have all my attempts to make
money Online failed miserably?" You need to then step back and
ask yourself, "What methods have I tried?" and "Did I follow
through with them before moving on to the next big thing?" An
example would be, if you made a content website about Dog
Training. You had some decent content there, wrote a few
articles, and submitted them to a number of Ezines and article
directories; however, you did not get any affiliate sales, and
barely anyone clicked on the ads on your site so you give up. A
new ebook rolls around and tells how Average Joe made $25k in a
month and you begin using his methods instead of the ones you
have already set out to do. Who knows? Maybe all it took for
you to feel like you have "succeeded" was a little bit more
fresh content, or maybe a few more submitted articles ... But
you'll never know because you strayed away from that path,
because in plain view another path looked better before your
business really had a chance to kick off.

Now, don't get me wrong. Its okay to experiment with new ideas
to increase the effectiveness of your business, but try to
tackle one thing at a time. Here's an analogy that will
hopefully put my points into perspective:

Imagine you had to work for 364 days out of the year, and you
had ONE day off to yourself. Would you want to make the out of
it? Or would you want to spend the entire deciding on what to
do? Say, on that one day off, you decided to go to a theme
park. On your way, you see a billboard advertising a good movie
that is now playing, so you decide to turn back and head to
towards the theater. Well, on your way to the theater you
realize you can't go through an entire movie because you're
hungry so you make another turn and begin heading to your
favorite restaurant. On your way to the restaurant, you
remember you were had a big dinner waiting on you at home so
you turn back and head home because by then everything is
closed and the day is over.

Your Online income is like that ONE day. You've been waiting
for it, and it almost seems to good to be true, so when the
opportunity arises, you spend all of your effort deciding what
you're going to do until you exhaust yourself to the point
where all your time has got you nowhere. Because you kept
chasing other offers instead of sticking to your original plan
when the next thing seemed so much better. In the end, you
wonder why your Online business has made no money.

My advice to you: Stick to one plan, before moving onto the
next. If you decided to build a content site and earn revenue
from Adsense and promoting affiliate products, stick to that
and make sure that business is running steady before you decide
to give up and start that eBay business Joe Schmoe got rich
from.

In conclusion, the best thing you can do for yourself and your
Online business is to write out a clear "vision" or set of
goals. Do your best to stick to them before switching to a new

Affiliate Your Website

by Kathryn Lively

Website affiliation refers to the practice of either A) setting up your website of products for other site owners to market your products via their own sites; or B) setting up a website for the purpose of selling products from other companies.

An affiliate signs up for a specific program to market products on a website, whether it's clothing, cosmetics, software, or food. Once approved, that affiliate is given an account where he/she may use text links or graphic ads created with special HTML codes that, when clicked through, keep track of visitors and sales. For every sale of a product made through an affiliate site, the owner of the site will receive a percentage of that sale.

Selling products by others from your website

By signing up for affiliate programs, you have the potential to turn your website into a profitable venture. Amazon.com, for example, runs one of the largest and oldest affiliate programs, called Amazon Associates. Here, site owners can link back to anything sold on Amazon.com (books, music, videos, etc.) and receive a percentage of every sale sold via click-through. Not only does this allow for money-making potential, but site owners can find relative content via Amazon.com to use on their sites.

Google Adsense is another popular referral program. Here site owners can sign up and place Google ads on their sites. Every click through generates a referral fee to the site owner.

Presently there are thousands of product sites that offer affiliate programs to sell a variety of goods, from clothing to health and fitness accessories to computer peripherals. There are also affiliate programs for travel and personal ad referrals. Site owners interested in becoming affiliates can visit a number of sites that host affiliate programs for businesses. Commission Junction, LinkShare, and ClixGalore are just three of many programs you can browse for more information.

Becoming an affiliate-driven site

E-commerce sites may want to consider offering an affiliate program for the purpose of extending their online presence and building link popularity, thereby increasing relevance and trust. By allowing aggressive site owners to affiliate with your website, there is the potential for more sales of your product, and higher visibility of your brand. As an e-commerce site, you have the option of outsourcing your affiliate program or managing it with specific affiliate software.

Programs like Commission Junction, ClixGalore, and LinkShare handle affiliate programs for large companies. By partnering with such a company, you allow them to handle all affiliate issues, from creative to payment. Some companies require setup fees and a percentage of sales, while others have financial requirements for joining (your company must make so much a year to be considered). If you are unable or unwilling to manage an affiliate program, outsourcing is in an option, but it's best to research all available third-party programs.

Affiliate software and online individual affiliate programs are available for e-commerce sites that take complete control of affiliation. You can set up your own creative, market for affiliates, send newsletters and offer incentives, and handle all support. Be prepared, however, to answer any questions affiliates will have and be sure all finances are handled correctly.

Using Online Video

Using Online Video Can Help Increase Your
Business Profits

by Vincent Abrugar

Marketing is a business necessity wherein tools and technology
innovations are utilized to increase a business’ profitability.
The relatively new online video technology is one technology
example that can be harnessed to increase profits and even
possibly lower marketing costs.

Now that video can be attached to almost any web page, the
possibilities of using video as a marketing technique (in the
same manner of television) is slowly but surely gaining ground.

- Research on the phenomenon of communication retention show
that people remember only 10% of what they have read and 20% of
what they hear; however, people remember more than 50% of what
they see and hear at the same time – just like watching a
movie.

- Marketing analysts report that companies that currently use
on-demand video, video e-mail or streaming video podcasts have
reported sales increases of close to 25%, sometime more. The
increase in client response is attributed to the fact that
multimedia rich content is a better catalyst to move and/or
persuade clients towards buying a product or service because
they can see its benefits in action.

- As far as online viewers are concerned, video builds
credibility and trust. It is very similar to having a live
person communicating to the end-user/client the benefits of
doing business with somebody that they can see and listen as
opposed to something that they read online. Customer rapport,
trust and a mutually fruitful business relationship is much
more easily established and achieved.

- Sending personnel to various locations at the same time to
set up a product demonstration invariably entails a long list
of additional expenses. Doing the same using online video,
streaming video or on-demand video obviously lowers the costs
significantly. Lower product marketing costs results into more
profits for the company.

- Cost of savings is not limited to product marketing costs.
Video can also be used to set up conferencing and training
methods, locally and internationally. Live conferencing and
training can be easily set up and synchronized between two or
more groups of people, regardless if they are at different time
zones, at the same time.

The above are only a few of the dollar related reasons why the
emerging technology of online videos is fast becoming an
effective marketing and

Generating Constant Traffic

Generating Constant Traffic for Your Website: Ethically!

by Patricia Skinner

There are literally thousands of online companies brashly promising to generate a “ton of traffic for your website.” Most of them use those exact words to lure in anyone desperate to improve website performance.

Usually, the solution is expensive, and will be at best a flash in the pan, bringing a temporary surge in web stats. At worst those companies can get you banned immediately from one or more search engines, leaving you with the task of building your web presence all over again from scratch.

There is No Instant Solution
The real secret to achieving a satisfying level of web traffic will take a little time, and not a little effort. But it will be worth it because your traffic, and therefore your web presence, will be stable and reliable. Even disturbances in the online community resulting form a Google shakedown shouldn’t affect you. I actually gained a little in my web ranking after Google’s Jagger update in October 2005!

You’re probably wondering by now what the heck I’m talking about, so I’ll get right down to it.

Organic SEO
I’m talking about Search Engine Optimization of course. Increasingly referred to as SEO, true SEO is by definition organic, and that’s how many consultants refer to it.

What’s organic? Good question.

If you have employed any gimmicks or fly-by-night techniques to get your site listed with the search engines then you are not organic.

Organic listing comes about with time and effort, doing the following things:

• Carefully select keywords: these will be words or phrases that a searcher would use if he were searching for your site. The better your choices, the more traffic you’ll get.
• Simple web design is best. It loads faster and doesn’t distract the surfer from the business of gathering data and taking action. At the very least, stay away from Flash movies and excessive Java scripts.
• Pick navigation that doesn’t foil the search engine spiders when they come crawling around.
• Come up with some quality content that is interesting, gets your message across, and also let’s the search engines know you’re there.

Now let’s take a look at each of these in turn.

Selecting Keywords
How should you select keywords? Some SEO copywriters and experts make it all seem so complicated. It really isn’t. You need a free tool for checking on the popularity of the keywords you choose. I love Overture: http://inventory.overture.com/

It’s true that Wordtracker is better, and offers more in terms of features, but it’s far better to use Overture rather than just guess.

Also, take a look at the first five or six sites that come up in a search for your products or services (using the same keywords). They can usually provide valuable pointers to additional keywords that you might use. Also, you’ll get a good idea of the standards required to surpass those pages.

Minimize Page Loading Time
Keep your web graphics as small as possible. Try and overcome the urge to be flashy: your words are the most important thing on your website, along with a good dash of white space. Too much detail will only distract your visitors anyway. The faster your loading time, the more visitors will stay to read what you have to say.

Navigation
Never use graphics for navigation. The search engines cannot read the words, so you are wasting a valuable opportunity for SEO. Worse than that, the search engines cannot navigate through to your other pages.

Create Catchy Content
It may take some time, or a little investment to get the content you need. If you know you’re not up to the task, then bite the bullet and contact an experienced SEO copywriter. You will consider the cost a highly profitable investment once you begin to see your website climbing the search engines, and the traffic begins to come pouring in.

Observe the 30-Second Rule
If your visitors can’t see what you’re about within 30 seconds, then you’re dead in the water.

Whatever style you choose to employ, some rules remain the same. Your sentences should be short, clear and to the point. The words should be skillfully woven around the keywords so that the copy flows, and does not sound stilted.

Remember to add keywords to your page title and links to other pages. This will also help your ranking.

This is basically it, in a nutshell. It’s not rocket science by any means, but it has just as much power as rocket fuel.

After I Send My Prospect To The Website

After I Send My Prospect To The Website, I Never
Hear From Them Again.
by Kim Klaver

Say you're on the phone with a customer prospect, discussing a
product that helped you with an achy knee, and they ask to see
a website. Where are you sending them?

Go visit that page yourself. Check this: Does it have
information about both the business and an array of products?
Is it immediately easy to see info about the product whose
story you were just discussing?

If you're sending them to your company home page, think again.
Chances are it's way to busy for the poor person to find the
product you were discussing.

That's why you're losing them - you sent them to the wrong
page. They're not looking for a business, but a product, and
not an array of them, but the specific one you were talking
about.

Do this: find the page on your company site that has the info
on JUST THE PRODUCT you like to market - the one that's helped
you the most. Send them to THAT page. It's like going to
Amazon.com and asking for info on a book you're looking for. Do
you expect to see a slew of other books instead, or info on how
to make money selling books online? Or do you expect to find
info on the book you are looking for?

This is the same.

If the link (URL) is really long, and you market a certain
product regularly, consider getting a related domain name, and
having it forward to that product page. Make it easy on your
customer.

For example, one of my students markets an achy knee product,
and right during the 3 Scripts Class, she got the domain name,
www.nomorachykneesf orme.com. She set it to forward to the
specific product page for that product on her company's
website.

Nice and direct for your customer.

And no more lost sales because the customer got totally lost on
the company home page when they're looking for a specific
product.

The Importance Of Search Engines

by Jon Rognerud

It is the search engines that finally bring your website to the
notice of the prospective customers. When a topic is typed for
search, nearly instantly, the search engine will sift through
the millions of pages it has indexed about and present you with
ones that match your topic. The searched matches are also
ranked, so that the most relevant ones come first.

Remember that a prospective customer will probably only look at
the first 2-3 listings in the search results. So it does matter
where your website appears in the search engine ranking.

Further, they all use one of the top 6-7 search engines and
these search engines attract more visitors to websites than
anything else. So finally it all depends on which search
engines the customers use and how they rank your site.

It is the Keywords that play an important role than any
expensive online or offline advertising of your website.

It is found by surveys that a when customers want to find a
website for information or to buy a product or service, they
find their site in one of the following ways:

The first option is they find their site through a search
engine.

Secondly they find their site by clicking on a link from
another website or page that relates to the topic in which they
are interested.

Occasionally, they find a site by hearing about it from a
friend or reading in an article.

Thus it’s obvious the the most popular way to find a site, by
search engine, represents more than 90% of online users. In
other words, only 10% of the people looking for a website will
use methods other than search engines.

All search engines employ a ranking algorithm and one of the
main rules in a ranking algorithm is to check the location and
frequency of keywords on a web page. Don’t forget that
algorithms also give weightage to link population (number of
web pages linking to your site).

When performed by a qualified, experienced search engine
optimization consultant, your site for high search engine
rankings really does work, unless you have a lot of money and
can afford to pay the expert. With better knowledge of search
engines and how they work, you can also do it on your own.

$150 Turned Into $15 Million

How $150 From 5 Customers Turned Into $15 Million

by Kim Klaver

This is a story about an entrepreneurial woman - an old friend
of mine who 19 years ago was just another soul looking for
something of her own. It all started with her first 5
customers. . .

"You know Kim, when I was first approached about this business,
I had been looking for something of my own for a few years
already. Back then, my husband was a carpenter, and I wanted to
do something, too. I had started an aerobics studio, a hair
salon, and then a dog grooming kennel. They all went down the
tubes, and we spent most of our savings.

"One day an acquaintance stopped by to show us a little water
filter gizmo you could put on sink, and said we could earn $30
for each one we sold. Since my husband remodeled kitchens
sometimes, and we didn't especially like our drinking water
that much, this seemed like a pretty good thing to try. We
figured I could set up appointments, and if we sold one per
week, we'd add $150 to our monthly income. That sounded good to
us. Well, you just cannot imagine our excitement when he brought
in an extra $150 that first month. Five sales!

"A few months later it got to almost $500 a month and we
thought, 'This is it! We've died and gone to heaven.' I started
setting up appointments for myself to show the units too. We
were so giddy our friends asked us what was going on. My
husband told a couple of the guys- a plumber he worked with and
another contractor, and they decided to do it too. We were just
so tickled to see a little income from some of THEIR sales, as
well...

"It's been 19 years now, and so much has happened with our
business. We've earned $15 million over these past years, and
we still find it hard to believe. . .

"Oh and let me tell you something, Kim. If the guy who came to
our house that first time had told us we'd be earning $10k/mo
we'd NEVER have signed up. We'd have thrown him out for taking
us for fools. We've never been much for telling big stories -
we believed a couple of hundred dollars was reasonable to
expect, and so we did it. It just grew from there. On some
days, we still can't believe it." -as told to Kim by Sue
Burdick.

Sue is very big banana in the industry today. But 19 years ago?
Many would have walked right by her in their search for a 'big
hitter.' After all, she just wanted a little something of her
own.

It all started with a few customers in her community who had
the same problem she did - the water didn't taste very good and
they all could use a little more income.

She helped them solve those problems - the way she had done for
herself.

Free Help for New Internet Marketers

by James Lowe

On the Web you can find free home based Internet business tips and resources, from for profit groups, not for profit organizations, agencies, entrepreneurs, forums and magazines.

Their mission is to provide helpful business information to start up firms.

I have listed sources below to give you direct ideas as to where you can find them. Save the ones that help you now and in the future so you do not have to waste time searching for them.

Many article directories provide thousands of free articles from thousands of writers who have millions of hours of experience. They also give you different valuable view points with almost unlimited amounts of experience.

All the major article directories have over 200 different categories you can select from. You will learn many angles involved with almost any business on these fine sources of information.

If you want to learn something work on reading two articles, about your area of interest, from one or more of these article directories everyday. Your knowledge will grow fast.

You will pick up helpful links from the articles that you can save. Also, you will want to start your own little link library in your favorite saved links section on your desk top. Overall, the articles are all fairly short.

Competition is fierce, among article writers, to get their articles published on these directories so their articles are good. This fact assures you of unlimited amounts of quality articles.

If you like a non profit organization and want to help them, look for their web site for learning on Google or any of the other big search engines.

A high percentage of the business marketing articles you will read will provide the same marketing principles for your favorite charity as you would use for a business.

Many successful entrepreneurs online have some free training with no obligation online to entice you to buy their online products including courses, consultation and e-books.

You do not have to buy their products to get this free training and experience.

eBay has lots of hard core training on their basic web site. You can learn lots by just signing up for free, as a member, and you have free access to loads of free quality learning and training afterwards.

Many of the best programs offer software and marketing from free sample training and lessons to entice you to try their programs.

Almost all of them are guaranteed and you can try them and dropout, with no charge or a refund, if they are not a good fit for you.

Click Bank has many free affiliate services in their different programs that will train you. The program owners are serious about your succeeding, so they can profit from your efforts, so there are many good ones out there.

There are numerous online forums you can join before and after starting a business. Many successful entrepreneurs on these just like to help others get started because they were once beginners themselves and like to help others begin.

Many good programs and successful marketers have free, virtually perpetual, newsletters that teach you a little every week or month. Just go to newsletters on Google or Yahoo to select ones that look like they are good for you.

Once again, the competition to get you to join these newsletters is fierce because online entrepreneurs make a high percentage of their sales from these free newsletters. So you can be sure the newsletter writers are going to make them the best they can be.

Many noted magazines, designed with the entrepreneur in mind, provide free home based Internet business tips about every aspect of running an enterprise.

In them you can find articles on how to start a business, how to market a firm, advertising tips and how to balance work and life.

Free home new Internet marketer business help includes articles on the ins and outs of mothers and fathers becoming entrepreneurs.

The free articles talk about how stay at home moms and dads can balance the demands of young children with the completion of the home based business tasks.

They make their money from advertisers who want you to join their businesses to help them grow. They have to have good information so interested opportunity seekers will search them out and entice them to look at their ads.

They list many web sites you can go to when learning how to sell items. Do not, I repeat, do not but anything from these web sites until you get some experience because many of them have products that are not good and that you will never need.

Some good quality marketing companies and multi level marketing companies provide free training on line that does have value.

They will ask you to join their companies on the lowest level, which is free, and hope you will join them later on.

It is okay to join a free company beginner program as long as it is free.

If they bend the truth or lie and say you need to buy hosting or other goods, for your free membership before or after you join, place them on your permanent do not trust list and forget them.

Other articles look at how to create an e-mail marketing campaign that will avoid the horrific charge of spamming.

Finding domain names and site hosting are addressed in other free articles for your home based Internet business.

You can also read about creating a Web site that is rich in meaningful content and how to keep visitors coming to your site.

Other critical topics include productive construction tools, like site maps, translation software and navigation tools to make your site more desirable to clients and search engines.

Most helpful are the free Internet business articles about what to include on your Web site. What you can also learn for free here are the online mistakes to avoid when building your home based web site.

These include topics like focusing less on quality content rather than glitzy graphics and failing to make navigation easy. On the internet, you will soon learn, content is king.

Also you will learn about the most common mistake made of making the site so large that it loads slowly, frustrating shoppers who leave before looking at it. The silly mistake of providing essential and valuable information but making it difficult to find.

Magazine sites offer free encyclopedias of terms that you will need to know and understand to run your home business knowledgeably. A section of services and tools for the entrepreneur will be included with the best magazines.

Some web site building companies provide a limited amount of free training on line that is useful. Their hope is that you will use their services when you decide to start up your business.

There are a limited amount of coaching sites on line that will provide you some sample free coaching so you will like their products and eventually buy them if you are pleased.

If this is for you consider them, if it is not, no matter how many testimonials they give and charming promises they make, do not buy them. The shoe must fit you.

Quality home based Internet business help is yours free in abundance on the Web. Just be sure to learn how to handle the dirty tricks that abound so you do get your free training and not waste your hard earned money.

James M. Lowe writes original articles, press releases, e-books, blogs and websites about home business opportunities.

Traffic Exchanges and the Internet Marketer

Traffic Exchanges and the Internet Marketer
by Angela Abbette

Internet marketers know that they are in a competetive industry and that there are many avenues of approach for them to market their products or services. Which is the best? All have their positive and negatives. But one to consider, is the user of traffic exchanges.

A traffic exchange refers to the concept of a venue (the traffic exchange) where you are exchanging your visits to other member sites, for other members to view your sites. This helps to increase traffic to your own website and bringing in more traffic. A rather simple process, but effective one, especially for the internet marketer.

There have been many traffic exchanges come and go over the past few years. The long standing ones, are generally the most effective. They will tend to have a ground membership that is active, plus newer members signing up on a continual basis. Thus, generating more exposure for you.

But what is the cost of traffic exchanges? Generally, they are free, and should be free. Members of traffic exchanges usually have to do a little "work", i.e. surf other member's sites. In this vein of thinking they are "earning their keep" at the traffic exchange. Although this is nice in practice, can be a little over burdening, especially if time constraints are of a concern for you. The better traffic exchanges, will offer paid services, just to ease your marketing concerns. These paid memberships can be in the form of extra credits, better surfing ratios, banner displays, even email promotion. All great advertising tactics for the savvy internet marketer.

As previously mentioned, the traffic exchanges that have been around for a while (generally more than 2 years) are the most effective for advertising. Why? Well, its simple. These exchanges tend to be more professional and cater to the needs of their membership. The "fly by night" exchanges and sometimes pop up, and then disappear only hurt the traffic exchange industry, and its members. Also, these exchanges, usually have a good core membership that are interesting in viewing new products or services, and can be new clients for your own internet endevors.

I must reiterate also, that this can be free advertising, if you want to put a little effort into it. Being a free member of a traffic exchange refers to the vast majority of any exchange. The more serious marketers will of course opt for the paid services of the exchange. But in fact, any free member can have great marketing success.

One final point to mention is that there are two main type of traffic exchange: manaul surf and autosurf. The manual surf exchanges are very much more effective in advertising and promotion, simply due to the fact that your site will be seen by other manual surfers. Autosurf exchanges have their place, but its not usually for the marketing end of this, mainly because one cannot guarantee that someone is viewing your site.

So, in general, if you are serious about internet marketing for your products and/or services ... take a look at the traffic exchanges out there, and especially the manual surf exchanges. You may discover an untapping resource for your advertising needs.

Pay Per Click Ads

What You Newbies Need To Know About Pay Per Click Ads

by Danny Wirken

Just about anyone who has been using the Internet in the last
few years has no doubt come across the term "pay per click"
once or twice. Pay per click is actually one of the less
expensive, albeit efficient, forms of advertising online. There
are several companies that offer pay per click advertising as
part of their services. Some of the most recognizable names in
the pay per click ads industry include Google, Yahoo and
Overture.

Pay per click is considered as the cheapest and most affordable
form of advertising online. How so? Well, unlike with other
forms of online advertising wherein you have to pay just to
load your ad on a page and that is regardless whether someone
sees it or not. With pay per click ads, you will only pay when
someone actually clicks on your ad.

In effect, you are paying for results only. In this business,
it is all about – clicks. Basically, each click represents the
actions that each user makes over the Internet. So with pay per
click ads, you are only paying your Pay Per Click Company every
time a user clicks on your advertisement.

Be careful though that you are not mislead into thinking that a
click is a lead, as some pay per click companies tend to.
Remember, that it can only be consider as a lead if someone has
expressed an interest in your product or service. Since a user
simply clicked on your ad, there is no way for you to determine
yet whether the user’s interest is of the same level as a lead
or just a curious visitor. Nevertheless, it is still a step in
the right direction.

So does pay per click work? For example, you own an ecommerce
site that sells branded fashion bags and you wish to increase
your sales. One way of doing that is by trying pay per click
advertising. As mentioned before there are several companies
that offer pay per click advertising programs, such as Google
AdWords.

All you need to do to get started is to open an account with
AdWords. Then you compile a list of the keywords that you want
to target and set it up with your daily budget and you‘re all
set. If you plan your campaign correctly, every time a user
searches for branded fashion bags your site will show up on the
first results page of Google.

The success in pay per click is determined by the popularity of
the keywords and its position in the list. Prices usually ranged
from a few cents up to $5. However, some keywords can be worth
so much more.

Another thing you need to remember with pay per clicks, the
price for a specific keyword always varies. The same goes for
the position where the ads are displayed on the page. With pay
per clicks you are in control. You are the one who names the
maximum amount that you are willing to pay and then Google uses
this as well as other information from other advertisers in
order to determine the positions of each ad. Most pay per click
companies, like Google AdWords have comprehensive online help
screens as well as samples that can help you set up your
campaigns.

Once you have set up you campaigns, you can now work on your
strategies to ensure that your ads are indeed effective. As
with all type of advertising, the key here is to continually
test and improve the performance of your ads. You might try
doing some research regarding pay per click ads as well as on
the popularity of keywords.

It might also be a good idea is to seek help from the experts
by reviewing the step by step instructions and coaching videos
designed specifically for newbies that are usually available
online as well. So, how do you determine whether your pay per
click ads are indeed successful? Well, the rule of thumb is
that your profits should worth more than what you are spending
on your ads.

The popularity of pay per click ads is growing consistently as
more and more businesses began to realize the long-term benefit
that could be gain from pay per click advertising. What is this
long-term benefit you ask? Well, pay per click ads are mainly
used for sales in the present time frame.

However, most advertisers are unaware that pay per click ads
can also be use to build an identity for their business, one
that their customers will remember for the time to come. What’s
great here is that the companies are given equal playing field.
Whether they are a small company or a big one, they can have
the same level of brand awareness.

How so? Well, every day various users usually use search
engines in order to look for a certain product or service over
the Internet. Therefore, if they see the same site come up in
their searches over and over it begins to create that same
brand awareness for that product or service.

More than 85% of all searches on the Internet are done with the
help of search engines and this is one reason why they are
considered as the best tools in enhancing a company's identity.
Search engines are identity builders. They direct customers who
are interested in your product or service right to your
doorstep.

In the long run, this kind of brand awareness will bring
visitors to your site without the need for additional
advertising. By using pay per click ads, you are also utilizing
the power of search engines and this means you can use the
Internet to deliver a targeted customer and build long term
brand awareness at the same time.

So why not give pay-per-clicks a try? After all, you do not
have to pay anything unless someone clicks on your ad. If
you’re not satisfied then just consider it as one tactic in
your bag of online marketing tricks that you need to test. If
things do not go the way you want them to, then you can easily
gain online exposure in using other tricks.

3 Steps To Increase Your Online Income

by Terry Dean

The Internet marketing landscape changes constantly. There are
new products and software programs every day it seems.

I have been doing business online successfully since 1996. One
thing hasn't changed in all these years. The money is in your
list. This was true in 1996. This is true today. This will be
true in the future.

If you run an information business, the money is in your list.
If you run a local business and market online, the money is in
your list. If you're an affiliate with other people's products,
the money is in your list.

I have worked with thousands of different companies in my
coaching programs and through products my business has offered.
No matter what type of business you're in, the money is in the
list.

Some people have made good money online without a list, but I
have never seen an instance where having a list wouldn't have
increased their income.

I'm sure this isn't brand new information to you if you've been
online for any amount of time. The question is just how much do
you focus on your list?

Step One - Concentrate on Building Your List

Make it a priority. Use a squeeze lead generation page where
the only purpose of the page is to generate an email lead. If
you can't do that, then at least focus your visitors attention
on your subscribe box by highlighting it and making it the most
obvious section of your page.

Focus your visitor's attention on your list. Give them a
valuable gift for signing up (not just a sales letter to buy a
product). Give them real value at the beginning of your
relationship as an incentive to join your list.

Then concentrate on effective marketing for your list. Use SEO,
PPC search engines, article submissions, joint ventures, etc.
all with the intention of building the list. If you can grow
your list, you'll grow your income.

Step Two - Build a Relationship with Your List

Write emails to your list as if you're talking to one
individual. It may not be accepted in English class, but the
most powerful word for your online writing is "You." Give them
some content for free. There are thousands of lists your
subscribers can be on. What will separate you from all the
others?

I have always worked on my relationships with my subscribers by
telling short personal stories about my own life. I shared my
successes and my frustrations with them. Always speak to your
list members as if you're speaking to one single individual.

Be personal. Give content and value. Be a real person they can
trust.

Step Three - Make Good Honest Offers to Your List

You don't just send content. You also have to send offers. It's
the combination of the two that will build your income. Get too
unbalanced in content only and you don't make any money. Get
too unbalanced in offers only and people will stop reading.

Don't just jump on the bandwagon of whatever new product is
being sold this week. I know there are always product launches
promising you a large income if you jump on the next big thing.
You have to ignore the majority of these if you want to really
build a valuable list.

If you promote the exact same thing 50 other people are
promoting this week, you're not a "leader" any more. You're a
parrot. There is no more reason to subscribe to your list than
anyone elses. Be a little different.

If something comes along that you know will really give value
to your list, then go with it. But never become the parrot
marketer that just says what everyone else is saying. And I can
assure you that doesn't occur every week.

The Perfect Home Based Business And How To Start It

by Brigitte Jaeger-Dabek

The Perfect Home Based Business And How To Start It
You have decided to start your own work at home business to
achieve financial freedom? Congratulations! But be careful,
act wise - if not in a couple of months you will only
belong to the many people that end with less money than
when they started.

There are two main keys you have to understand. The first
one is the key to your personal attitude. Treat your
business like a business and not like a spare time hobby.
This is critical whether you are working part-time or full
time, whether you work at home or go to some office. Take
it serious or you will never succeed.

The second key to finding a home based business starts with
knowing yourself. That means knowing what you are good at
and what you do not do well. Be honest with yourself when
doing this. We all are not perfect even if we would all
love to be and we have to accept this fact.. This is very,
very important to you, because picking a business in which
most of the tasks that need to be done are your strengths
will increase your chances of success.

For example you are a bit like me and let's say you are not
much of a talker. You do not like to talk much to. You are
however very well organized and love to write like me. It
would most likely be in your best interest to be an article
writer. They do not require you to do much talking or
calling prospects and customers.

Bearing this in mind decide what kind of home business you
will start. The next thing you will have to know is the
product or service that you will be offering. Get to knwo
every detail possible about it until you got quite familiar
with it. And please remember this: you won't be able to
really successful market a product you don't like. The more
you believe in your product or service, the more you will
sell. Be prepared to answer question about your product! If
you do not believe in what you are doing you will not reach
any of your desired goals. A good idea if you decided to
start as an affiliate will be to become a customer of the
network*marketing company before you join the business as
an affiliate. Try the product, try the service and you will
know if you feel good about it.

Okay you picked a business that relies on your strengths
and a product or service you can believe in now you have to
prepare the start. First you have to choose what your
budget is going to be. Please remember that most home
businesses take at least months before you really start
seeing results off so it is important to keep within a
budget until then.

Before you start to take action, remember to treat your
business as a business, it is not another hobby in your
spare time. Take it serious and think about the last but
important preparations, dont underestimate them. First you
have to set up a separate working space in your home. The
important point ist that you design a little area
completely separated from your living area, so that when
you are working you cannot be distracted. It's not enough
to have a corner with some shaky old table. What you need
is a desktop to stay organized and an inspiring
environment. You have to be creative in realizing your
dreams, so you really need any inspiration you could get.
It sounds basic, but stock your working area with any
materials, tools and resources you might need, this will
save a lot of time. Another essential for you is to stay
organized and that means to develop a schedule that works
for you. Believe me, a good time management will save you
many hours and lots of frustrations. The best approach is
to set your next goals, list them up and than work
backwords to create step by Stepp action plans.

Now your business is running and you can spread the word.
From now on there are two big issues to have a look on
daily: customer relations and marketing. Present a
professional image. Set up a seperate bank account for your
business, install a seperate phone and fax line. Be
courteous and pleasant in all your interactions with your
customers and prospects. If you not already are, become a
person people like to make business with. Be generous if
someone asks for a refund. There is an old proverb: you
can't win a quarrel with your customer.

The second point is to market your business. Marketing is
every action to get customers. There are many forms of
marketing such conservative as newspaper ads, flyers, TV
ads, mailing lists, pay-per-click ads, power-linking, and
many others. And there are others specially working with
internet businesses like viral marketing or networking. How
you market your business is up to you and up to the special
needs of your business. Each technique has its own
strengths and weaknesses. Obviously you will want to keep
your budget in mind when picking a method of marketing.

Diversify your marketing as much as possible, and
remember... the more people see and know your business the
more business you will do. Test and once more, track your
ads in testing different strategies. After some months you
will know quite well which one will not only pull in
visitors to your website or sales page but the best
profits. Continue with this proven methods, provide an
extraordinary service and an excellent product you are
proud on and you will be on track to developing a
sustainable growing home business.

Avoid The 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes

Avoid The 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes

By Mike Campbell

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of
earning some money online. This program gives everybody a chance to make
a profit through the Internet. Since these affiliate marketing programs
are easy to join, implement and pays a commission on a regular basis,
more an more people are now willing in this business.

However, like all businesses, there are lots of pitfalls in the
affiliate marketing business. Committing some of the most common
mistakes will cost the marketers a large portion taken from the profit
they are making everyday. That is why it is better to avoid them than be
regretful in the end.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate.

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible.
In their rush to be part of one, they tend to choose a bandwagon
product. This is the kind of products that the program thinks is
"hot". They choose the product that is in demand without
actually considering if the product appeals to them, not to mention that
it's so "hot" that everybody and their dog is promoting it
as well. This is not a very wise move obviously.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon, try to choose a product in which
you are truly interested in. For any endeavor to succeed, you should
take some time to plan and figure out your actions.

Pick a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that
product to see if they are in demand. Promoting a product you are more
passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the
earnings only. Having a genuine interest in the product or service will
help your ads, sales pages, and promotions flow much more naturally
which will definitely make you more money online.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might be tempted to
join multiples of affiliate programs to try and maximize the earnings
you will be getting. Besides you may think that there is nothing wrong
and nothing to be lost by being part of many affiliate programs.

True, that is a great way to have multiple sources of income. However,
joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same
time will prevent you from concentrating on each one of them. Another
downfall is that you may get so sidetracked, that you end up completely
alienating your initial target market.

The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate program is not
realized and the income generated will not exactly be as huge as you
were thinking initially it would. The best way to get excellent result
is by joining just one program that pays a 40% commission at least.
Learn the products inside and out; even purchase some if necessary as
this will add believability to your messages/sales pages/ezine articles,
or whatever means you are using to promote. Then give it your best
effort by promoting your products enthusiastically. You will be able to
stress certain factors and benefits through actual experience, rather than
using a generic sales page. As soon as you see that it is already making
a reasonable profit, then maybe you can now join another affiliate
program.

The technique is to do it slowly but surely. There is really no need to
rush into things, especially with affiliate marketing. With the way
things are going, the future is looking real bright and it seems
affiliate marketing will be staying for a long time as more people learn
to make money online.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

As an affiliate, you main purpose is to effectively and convincingly
promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve
this purpose, you must be able to relay to the customers that certain
product and service. It is therefore difficult for you to do this when
you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to
promote and recommend them convincingly. You will also fail to create a
desire in your customers to avail any of what you are offering.

Try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an
affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. If you
have done so, then you are one of the credible and living testaments
aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Your customers will then feel
the sincerity and truthfulness in you and this will trigger them to try
them out for themselves.

Many affiliate marketers makes these mistakes and are paying dearly for
their actions. To not fall into the same situation they have been in,
try to do everything to avoid making the same mistakes.

Time is the key. Take the time to analyze your marketing strategy and
check if you're on the right track. If done properly, you will be
able to maximize your affiliate marketing program and earn higher
profits. Think of it like the Tortoise and the Hare; in affiliate
marketing, slow and steady wins the race. We would all like to jump in
and be a success overnight - but that's not the way it happens for
99.9 percent of Affiliate Marketers.

Ask any who have attained any level of consistent success, and the
answer will almost always be that they struggled for some time until
things just clicked. It's like synergy, and everything that
you've been working towards all of a sudden starts to come together.
Persistence will pay off if you consistently chip away at your plan and
stay focused.
